Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby covered The Velvet Underground and it’s bliss

If the end of the week couldn’t come sooner for you, this might help it chug along a little quicker; U.S folksters Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby have covered The Velvet Underground track After Hours, and it’s pure bliss.

Kevin Morby Waxahatchee

Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby covered a Velvet Underground deep cut from 1969 and it’s bliss. Listen below.

The collaboration was posted Crutchfield on her Tumblr page last night, which she shared via her Twitter page with the message, “the world is a dark place. here’s a cover of ‘after hours'”.

After Hours was written in 1969 by Lou Reed, and featured on the band’s third, self-titled album. The song was originally sung by VU drummer Moe Tucker; Lou Reed once said the song was “so innocent and pure” that he could not possibly sing it himself.

The cover is very true to the original with that sense of innocence pervading Morby and Crutchfield’s dual vocals and softly strummed guitar.

We hope it gets you through the week. Listen to it here, and check out the original below.
