Video Premiere: SWRLS – Definition

Happy are super pumped to premiere the slick new video for SWRLS single Definition. Check them out this June at Fredas – more details below.

For all you avid readers, SWRLS should still be pretty fresh in your mind, as we introduced the electronic supergroup (made up of Thom Moore of Mercy Arms, Richard Moore of Irrelevant Celebrities and James Watroba of The Dirty SecretsCalerway) just last week, and we lapped up the tripped out, sweet and sour delicacy that was Definition.

Now, the lads have shot their awesome new vid for the single our way and it’s a bloody doozy. Taking influence from 80’s futurism and classic Bond films, the clip captures SWRLS’ fractured, translucent sounds into something conceptually visceral and visibly tangible.

Courtesy of E. James Wright and Chris Fatseas, the directing duo took the opportunity to go oldschool, favouring camera abstractions and double exposures over computer generated effects, and the results show the effort is more than worth it. There’s a real Bladerunner meets Daft Punk vibe on this vid and that closing shot of the el solo cymbal is really, really cool.

Definition is taken from the group’s debut EP to be released this Winter, the single now available through iTunes. You’ll be able to catch SWRLS on Thursday the 12th of June at Fredas in Sydney. It’s totally free, but make sure to check out how to get to Fredas before heading out – it’s one of those bars.
