Having formerly sung and played guitar for band Gota Cola, Tylea has been releasing music since 1994 as an impressive solo act, alternating between dark and light lullabies with an artisanal ease.

A minimalistic sound with references to nature and love, Tylea not only produces those dreamy vocals, but plays guitar and keys on the record.
Recorded at Wild Mountain Sound Studio in Mt Nebo, Queensland, the new record is made up of eight slow moving tracks, gently flowing from start to finish. With passionate vocals, incredible control and a soft ambience, The Lake of Sand and Stone could be deemed one of the more tranquil records of the year.
From the uncertainty and sadness in Dark River to the upbeat tempo and harmonised vocals in Burnt Orange Rose, The Lake of Sand and Stone is a colourful compilation of beautiful vocals, raw lyrics and understated ambience. With lyrics like, “Today I can be myself,” in Don’t Feel Much or “I’ve been thinking of beginning to be someone,” in My Will, the record is a courageous confession of Tylea’s insecurities, deepest thoughts and battles with her inner demons.
With the addition of guitar and saws (Jamie Trevaskis), a second guitar (Chris Dale), haunting backup vocals (Mia Goodwin), drums/percussion (Dan McNaulty), bass (Janey Mac), trumpet and Wurlitzer (Scott Bromley), The Lake of Sand and Stone is a majestic musical masterpiece.
