Ty Segall- Susie Thumb

Ty Segall is legit. Like real legit. So legit, I’m feeling a little bit guilty for not knowing who he was. Started off skating around California, he decided to make music after he didn’t get a role in the not-so-reality TV show, Laguna Beach. Okay that last part may not be true. But what is true is that he is an epic musician and a seasoned pro.

Ty segall

Ty Segall is superhuman, producing super legit album after album. John feels guilty that he didn’t know him.

Ty Segall has been in bands such as Epsilons, The Traditional Fools and Party Fowl. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was born with guitars for hands. He’s a “rock of all trades”, producing songs that range from garage, classical and psychedelic rock to indie, glitter, glam core rock. He’s also not afraid to get weird; to experiment with these sounds and you can hear this from the many albums that he’s made.

We can all breathe a little easier now; his long awaited album, Manipulator, comes out at the end of August so pre-order now you shaggy haired scoundrels. He’s also touring around American and Europe – if you’re traveling around, add that to your bucket list, along with taking a stroppy picture of yourself holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Susie Thumb is a glimpse into this upcoming album. It’s got some rad rising and roaring guitar solos, psychedelic progressions and a hint of 60’s rock vocals. The chug and distortion of the guitar and rock lobster keyboards will surely get your head bopping.

Ty Segall gloriously performed another song, Feel, from the upcoming album on his appearance on Conan complete with purple lipstick and painted face. Holla ‘atchya David Bowie. So kawaii. He’s got some mad guiro tapping skills in the breakdown – he just goes crazy.
