Tora – Eat The Sun

With chilled out sounds that will have you wishing you were sitting back sipping a few beers or ciders on the beach, Tora are back with their EP Eat the Sun.

Tora

“Ugh, this music is too relaxing”…said no one ever! Byron Bay’s Tora have stepped up their game for their new EP Eat The Sun.

After finishing their very first Australian tour in April that took them down the east coast, Tora have been writing for their much anticipated next release. Unlike their previous EP Tora, which was quite electronic, this new release has a much more chill-wave sound to it whilst still retaining the electronic sounds the boys are known for.

Eat the Sun opens with the track Sugar Snap. This track is a great introduction for the EP as out of all of the tracks it has my favourite balance of electronic and chillwave elements. It’s as if the track is an introduction for the audience to the new sound Tora will be exploring throughout the EP whilst still keeping and retaining their characteristic sounds.

The track that showcases the greatest use of lyrical vocals on the EP is Jaigantic. There is a great play in the combination of the key of the vocals mixed with light and animated electronic sounds. Then you’re greeted with a seamless piano segment to exit the piece, which leaves the listener on the high and airy feeling that the track gives you.

Title track Eat the Sun has the greatest use of the chill-wave vibes. The vocals combined with the soothing electronics and then added with a relaxing tempo really gave this track a pleasing and wonderful sound. It is truly reflective of the chill-wave and electronic arrangement Tora have within the EP.

So I know your all just dying to know when Tora will be playing next. Well don’t worry; I’ve got you covered. Apart from playing at the Mullumbimby Music Festival and Festival of the Sun, this year the boys will also be playing on these dates:
