FACT Mag recently published a feature on Moog, one of the largest and most loved synth makers in the world. What began with Bob Moog selling theremins in 1953 has grown into a household name in the gear world, and the company’s influence on music since has been supreme.
One feature which distinguishes this company has been their gumption in staying American made amongst a market of Japanese manufacturers, and since 2011 every single synth has been hand made in a red brick factory in North Carolina with 81 employees. FACT jumped inside, and the photos they took are amazing.
Since 1953 Moog has been a staple of the gear world, but it’s rare that an outsider is allowed to set foot inside their small synth factory.
Seeing the workspace of professional artisans is always a treasure, and this is no exception. The Moog factory is dominated by workstations and storage for circuitry, finishing timber and other parts.
