Holy moly, there’s a brand new Jimi Hendrix album coming out early 2018

A collection of unreleased songs recorded by Jimi Hendrix between 1968 and 1970, the final two years of his lifetime, are set to be released next year.

The 13-track Both Sides of the Sky will come your way on March 9, 2018 and will feature 10 previously unheard tracks. I know this may seem like a joke or a straight impossibility, but we’re serious.

50 years after his momentous, unforgettable debut, a posthumous album from Jimi Hendrix will be released in March 2018.

Both Sides of the Sky marks the third entry in a posthumous trilogy of Jimi Hendrix albums. It follows 2010’s Valleys of Neptune and 2013’s People, Hell and Angels.

Eddie Kramer, the recording engineer who worked on every Hendrix release during the legend’s lifetime, produced the new LP alongside John McDermott and Janie Hendrix (Jimi’s sister).

The album features performances from The Jimi Hendrix Experience members Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding as well as Band of Gypsys members Buddy Miles and Billy Cox. Stephen Stills also appears on two tracks, and Lonnie Youngblood on one.

Speaking of the release, Kramer said “The first thing is you put the tape on and you listen to it and the hairs just stand up right on the back of your neck and you go, ‘Oh my God. This is too fucking incredible’.”

“It’s an incredible thing. 40, 50 years later here we are and I’m listening to these tapes going, ‘Oh my God, that’s an amazing performance.'”
