The wait is over! The Lockhearts drop Ride Home, a raging first taste of their upcoming LP

Sydney staples, live music junkies, Old Mates Block Party commissioners and all-round legends The Lockhearts have cracked open a can of worms with their new single Ride Home.

It’s been a long time coming, that’s for sure. Whispers of an album have been floating around these four longhairs for years now, each of their vicious live shows adding to an already mountainous amount of hype.

Well the forbidden fruit won’t be out of reach for long. The Lockhearts’ upcoming album Americana Doom Fuzz has been confirmed, and Ride Home is your first taste.

Rowdy, raunchy and rippling with their usual steeze, Ride Home marks a ragged forerunner to one whopping album from The Lockhearts.

If you count yourself amongst The Lockhearts’ many past audiences, Ride Home may even sound a touch familiar. That main hook is one you probably found yourself spitting out during the walk home… effortless enough for punters to join in by the second chorus, it’s among their catchiest dips yet.

The stadium rock influence wafts out from Ride Home harder than ever. Tim Meaco’s vocals echo to heaven and beyond as red-hot American riffery sings throughout, diving between Van Halen highs and hell-bent, doom laden lows with artisanal ease.

It’s a track which has been tested in the only room that matters, one packed wall-to-wall with high voltage audio addicts.

Speaking of life on the road, the usual suspects you meet along the way and their giveaway traits, it’s Lockhearts to the core. Few Sydney bands (or even Australian bands) their age boast the same live chops these four lads from Marrickville do. They’ve well and truly earned the authority to be seen as experts in the field.

Americana Doom Fuzz promises more where this came from, a blending of 70s ascendancy with rough-as-nails interjections that’ll put hairs on your chest. Currently slotted for early 2018, you’ve still got some time to wait but also, knowing The Lockhearts, plenty of opportunity to catch the new cuts live before you grab a copy.

We’ll be there with bells on.

They’ll be on the road this Saturday through September. The tour follows a two month break from shows… and we were starting to think something was wrong.
