Hypnotic lights, intergalactic visuals and 18 beds to take it all in from: the MCA’s new exhibition cannot be missed

Dwindling lights, luminescent projections and an extraordinary insight into the underwater world, all from the comfort of your own bed. Sounds great, huh?

Well, not exactly your own bed, but you’ll still have the opportunity to gaze at an artificial, galactic world whilst getting horizontal.

If you’re a fan of art and laying in bed, you can combine the two at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s new installation Pipilotti Rist: Sip my Ocean.

Looking back over 30 years, the exhibition has been deemed as one of the most comprehensive installations ever held in an Aussie gallery, with pieces displayed from the beginning of the renowned Swiss artist’s career, inclusive of her early single-channel videos created during the 1980s, right up until her most recent large-scale, audio-visual environmental displays.

Come and experience a charming sense of community at the MCA’s Sydney International Art Series. Sip my Ocean is currently running through until February 18.

Exploring the relationships between nature, the human body and technology, Pipilotti Rist’s works creates a hypnotic, colourful world of visuals for guests to lost themselves in, with 18 comfortable beds to encourage a sensual and magical experience. It’s not every day you can immerse yourself in an installation, soaking up the artwork whilst lying on the gallery floor.

Happy Mag’s Nic Wheatley even took the liberty of checking out the display in NYC last year

Via Concrete Playground.
