The legendary Berlin studio where Nick Cave, Bowie and Iggy Pop recorded is getting a documentary

The legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin, where Nick Cave, David Bowie and Iggy Pop (amongst many others) recorded some of their greatest works, is getting a feature length documentary.

Hansa Studios: By The Wall 1976-90 is set to explore the historical, cultural and artistic significance of the fabled West Berlin Studios.

Iggy Pop David Bowie

The legendary Berlin studio where Nick Cave, David Bowie and Iggy Pop recorded is getting a feature length documentary.

Sky Arts will broadcast the documentary on the 10th of January, the second anniversary of Bowie’s death. Two of the three albums from his famed ‘Berlin’ trilogy, Low and Heroes, were recorded in the studio, which was located just metres from the Berlin Wall (hence the title, also referring to the lyric from [the song], Heroes).

Iggy Pop’s Lust For Life and The Idiot were recorded there, as well as U2’s Achtung Baby, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ Your Funeral… My Trial, plus albums from Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Psychedelic Furs, Supergrass and heaps more.

It’d be an understatement to say the studio is iconic. Check out the trailer for the documentary below. It’s pretty damn spectacular.
