The Jezabels have dropped a haunting, somewhat sexy and overall poignant video for Pleasure Drive – the first taste from the band’s upcoming third record.
The video features the band’s lead singer Hayley Mary leading the way through gothic, domestic mayhem as she urges, through possession of some Other being, women to stand up to their partners, all in the name of pleasure.
This is the first we’ve heard from the band in two years, since their wonderful sophomore album The Brink. The new single is the first cut from their upcoming third album Synthia. Speaking with interview magazine, Hayley Mary said:
“We started jamming to [the sequencer] and all I wanted to sing about was pleasure, the kind of pleasure that repression seems to make us want to deny. Call it the devil and attach guilt and shame to it, but really, you know it’s a good thing—to feel good, to enjoy your life.”
Synthia is out February 12th, released independently.
