Love & Mercy is the forthcoming biopic about the tortured life of Brian Wilson, and judging from the brand new trailer, it’s going to be intense.
The 2 and a half minute trailer highlights the manipulation Wilson suffered during his time fronting The Beach Boys, primarily at the hands of his psychiatrist Dr. Eugene Landy (played by Paul Giamatti). It also explores Wilson’s relationship with his wife Melinda Ledbetter, played by Elizabeth Banks, as well as struggles through competition with The Beatles, Wilson’s legendary creativity in the studio, and his tortuous life dealing with drug habits. John Cusack will be portaying Wilson in his later years, while Paul Dano (the angsty teen from Little Miss Sunshine) plays him during his time with history defining Beach Boys.
Directed by Bill Pohlad, the film is due out June this year and it’s shaping up to be an intensely emotional portrayal of one of history’s most definitive musicians.
