Take your air drumming career to the next level with this crazy new device

99% of the world is probably guilty of getting overly enthusiastic during an intense air drumming session. Perhaps even more prolific than the air guitar, your trusty air drum kit has always offered unparalleled access to impromptu jam sessions when the craving comes forth.

A new Kickstarter project promises to bring your drumming fantasies to life. Called Freedrum, it let’s you attach devices to your drumsticks and feet, allowing you to play thin air as if it was a fully functional kit.

Air drum happy

As if you weren’t always air drumming anyway, soon you’ll be able to write, record and produce sound with nothing but Freedrum and a pair of sticks.

Freedrum works in tandem with any smartphone, communicating natively with a number of apps that already provide MIDI capability, recording input or drum machine samples.

You affix the devices onto your sticks (hopefully this just works with your fingers) and drum away. With your phone or other device, you can map out where your snare, hats, cymbals and toms will be – in any configuration you like.

Of course, there’s also a sensor you can attach to your shoes, because what’s a virtual kit without a kick?

Head over to Freedrum’s Kickstarter for more info.
