Shake that raincoat off and get loose at these 4 gigs this weekend

Holy shit. What a week. Dunno how the rest of the country is doing but here in Sydney we are soaked to the bone. How is it the FUCKING MIDDLE OF SUMMER PEOPLE? Well we all know the best way to warm up is to see live music so there is no point beating ’round the bush here. These are our top four gigs to check out this weekend, pulled from Happy’s gig guide.

Don’t mind the rain, it’s just water, and we all know how much this country needs water. Forget all about it at these four gigs this weekend.

Royal Chant & Julia Why? – Brighton Up Bar, Sydney, Friday 8th January

If you’re in need of a ballsy garage rock fix after the placidity of Christmas with your family and New Years Eve working at a bar, head down to Brighton Up Bar for Royal Chant and Julia Why? making lovely musical fusion together.

The Flaming Lips – Palais Theatre, Melbourne, Friday 8th January

By far one of the most thrilling, mind-boggling, brain-melting live experiences ever, The Flaming Lips are not to be missed. They play the Palais Theatre this Friday and a free show at The Domain in Sydney on Saturday with The Grates and Royal Headache respectively. Yeah, I know right.

Postblue – The Foundry, Brisbane, Friday 8th January

We are stoked to be presenting the Postblue Summer tour this January. Unfortunately they had to cancel a massive chunk of dates, but that only makes the remaining shows more special. Catch them at The Foundry in Brisbane this Friday with very special guests, Hunch.

The Harpoons, Sui Zhen, Terrible Truths, Mangelwurzel – The Gasometer, Melbourne, Friday 8th January

What a bloody lineup. Melbourne is brimming with incredible, extremely quirky, female vocalists, and these four bands are at the epoch of this trend. Well not so much a trend. All four of these bands have solidified their own places at the epicentre of Aussie music in their own ways. This night is gonna be huuuuge!
