Can’t resist the Zims: Radiohead just announced an ultra-rare collab with rockstar composer Hans Zimmer

Not even Radiohead can resist the allure of legendary composer Hans Zimmer it seems, with BBC announcing a collaboration between the two for the upcoming nature series Blue Planet II.

While Greenwood and Yorke have stuck their individual fingers in a ton of pies throughout the years, it’s very uncommon indeed for Radiohead itself to work with any outside collaborator.

Radiohead and Hans Zimmer will join forces for the very first time on a new version of Bloom, to be featured in an upcoming nature doco from BBC.

The new version of Bloom, a cut from The King of Limbs, will be dubbed (ocean) bloom, and will feature in a short-film prequel to the series this month. It was recorded by the BBC’s own concert orchestra under Zimmer’s guidance, with Yorke contributing new vocals.

In a press release, Yorke said:

“Bloom was inspired by the original Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song and reimagine it for this incredible landmark’s sequel.”

“Hans is a prodigious composer who effortlessly straddles several musical genres so it was liberating for us all to work with such a talent and see how he wove the sound of the series and ‘Bloom’ together.”
