With plans to showcase their incarceration onstage, not even getting arrested will stop Pussy Riot

Infamous Russian feminist punk rock band Pussy Riot are set to release an experimental stage play in collaboration with The London Theatre Company.

The show, produced by esteemed company Les Enfants Terribles, is titled Inside Pussy Riot and is a chronicle of the political group’s journey thus far, traversing their arrest and imprisonment after a show in a Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

Not even being arrested will stop Pussy Riot, who have unveiled plans to show an intimidating stage production to their supporters in London.

The project was funded entirely via a Kickstarter Campaign and the amount raised closed in at around $78,000. As Pussy Riot member Nadya Tolokonnikova revealed in a recent statement:

“We’re going to recreate Russian courtrooms, a real Russian labour colony, solitary confinement cells, priests who shout about banning abortions and many more absurd, but real-life things that exist in Russia today.”

“The audience will actually get the chance to re-live each one of these experiences themselves in London, learning what it means to be a political opponent in Russia today. We’ll take you on a journey from the cathedral altar deep into the vaults of the Kremlin itself. Hopefully, this is a journey that you’ll only have to make once in your life.”

“We thought it was an important for us to tell and for people in London to hear”

Inside Pussy Riot is due to be released for a limited season in a yet to be disclosed London location, and aims to enlighten a wider audience on Pussy Riot as a band and the cause they represent in Russia and globally.
