PREMIERE: The video for 100 Degrees has us falling in love with Little Wise all over again

The stunning alt folk sounds from Melbourne act Little Wise have been taken to new heights with a new video clip for her much loved single 100 Degrees.

Long a favourite to perform live, 100 Degrees has been wandering around the outskirts of Little Wise’s repertoire for a while. Not making it onto her debut LP Silver Birch, it’s no wonder Little Wise, aka Sophie Klien, was itching to put it in the spotlight.

The track itself was recorded at Woodstock Studios in Balaclava and was produced by MEJU, a team comprising Megan Bernard and Kaliu Tonuma (Neil Finn, Crowded House, Hunters and Collectors). Bringing on board bassist Rosie Burgess and drummer Pam Zaharias, the song has been taken to new levels of heartwarming intimacy.

Little Wise has today gifted us with a new single and accompanying video for 100 Degrees, a b-side taken from the session for her much loved debut LP, Silver Birch.

Flickering between the singer herself and the rest of the band throughout that ripping guitar solo, the video is as quietly confident and understated as it is a clear statement to their undeniable skill.

100 Degrees has translated into a warm and inviting tune, with deep rootsy undertones and gritty elements that wonderfully reflect the live environment the track is best known for.

In a similar style to that of The Waifs, Norah Jones and Missy Higgins, smooth and swaying melodies have you hooked from beginning to end. Wandering through close up personal shots of Klein herself, gazing deeply into the lens, daring the audience to look away. That sultry stare and husky vocal swirling around the sharp and twanging guitar is bluesy perfection.

Little Wise will be heading over to the USA for the first time to showcase at the Americana Fest 2017 and will hopefully return come the end of the year with plenty of inspiration for new music. Keep your ears peeled for more.
