PREMIERE: Take a haunting psychedelic trip through the Tasmanian bushland with My Elephant Ride on Sat in Tears

Melbourne outfit, My Elephant Ride, take us on a psychedelic adventure through the wilderness in their latest film clip. The video accompanies Sat in Tears which is the third track from their debut record Into The Jungle, due out a little later in the year.

The clip sees the band once again team up with filmmaker Dr D Foothead (The Babe Rainbow, The Murlocs) who they previously hit the Himalayas with to shoot the clip for their first single In the Water.

Sat in Tears follows a blissed out bush bash through drought-stricken Tasmanian scrubland.

My Elephant Ride

Strap yourself in, My Elephant Ride take you on a haunting, psychedelic adventure in their new video for Sat In Tears.

The 4-minute adventure is established by two figures decked out in some pretty interesting outfits which, set against the stark Tasmanian wilderness, allude towards themes of duality and mysticism. The band’s psychedelic influences sit front and centre, visually and aurally, with the mesmerising trip on screen embellished by the song’s scattering, echoey vocals and subtle yet haunting  synths.

The journey takes a dramatic turn when the two figures run into trouble; all that is left to do is run! Things become more frantic and violent as day turns to night and before too long the video takes on a whole new dimension, shifting into full-blown, mind-bending animation.

All sense of presence and reality become completely warped by a barrage of visual effects, both analog and digital, explosive drawings and ghostly figures. The track too takes on a new dimension, with a psyched-out bass groove, whipping synths and bluesy guitar riff and the whole experience becomes nothing if not arrestingly hypnotising.

The dreaminess of Sat In Tears gives a promising glimpse into the forthcoming record from My Elephant Ride, which deals with identity, strangers, love and getting high. The self-produced nine track record also sees collaborations with the likes of Stu Mackenzie (King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard) and Daniel Caswell (Dune Rats, The Living End).
