PREMIERE: Melbourne’s Jumbo Mavis take folk into a darker sphere with new single Atlas Habitat

If you’re a fan of Gang of Youths, then you’re in the perfect place when it comes to the latest single from Melbourne’s dark folk duo Jumbo Mavis. Atlas Habitat is deep and cinematic, with rolling drums and heavenly vocals there really isn’t much more you could want.

Bringing an honest and raw folk vibe to Aussie music, their powerful drive is something that we have all been looking for and finally, it’s here.

Jumbo Mavis

Jumbo Mavis has given us something that isn’t just a folk song, Atlas Habitat harbouring depth and strength that pushes it beyond the borders of easy listening.

These guys have nailed the art of bringing power and big, overwhelming production to a song that could work just as easily in a softer acoustic form. Those bombastic drums and choral yells give Atlas Habitat a gripping and impressive quality which had us sold from the beginning.

Swelling with ethereal notes and gorgeous emotional wails, Atlas Habitat is a song to add to any playlist you have going at the moment.

With brevity and vulnerability, the undeniable masculinity of the band’s tone is overcome by the intensity and ferocious passion of the track’s intent. You just get lost in those huge notes and earth shattering drums, akin to a heavy beating heart.

Atlas Habitat comes straight after their debut single Bloodstream and its music video, one which we highly recommend you check out.

They’ll be officially launching the single on the 6th of October at The Workers Club in Melbourne and with an introduction like this, we’re pretty sure the night is not one you’ll forget quickly. We’ve got full faith that Jumbo Mavis will blow the roof off with their original and refreshing take on soul infused folk.
