PREMIERE: Can you spot the doggo? The Zilzies go full-DIY in their new clip Honey (It’s Alright)

A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to give you the very first listen to The Zilzies’ new single Honey (It’s Alright). Having dropped that first taste of their upcoming EP, the Sydneysiders have gone and created a music video to go with it.

The six-pieced band has been working hard in the studio with Dylan Thomas (who has previously produced for Sydney legends like Sticky Fingers and DMA’s) and the full EP is expected to come out this year.

The clip perfectly accompanies the cruisey alt-rock song with a casual collection of shots taken entirely from a band member’s bedroom. It’s pretty obvious they had a bit of fun making it too, with everyone pitching in their big grins and funky moves throughout the film.

The Zilzies have well and truly embraced the DIY spirit on Honey (It’s Alright), a homegrown and feel-good complete with a doggo cameo.

As they say in the song, “Can’t afford to hire a stunt double”, they stay true to their word, with all stunts performed by band members themselves. Keep an eye out for some impressive eyebrow raising, sweet handstands and when you see the cymbal at the end, you’ll know it’s a wrap.

One of the most memorable moments of the music video is when a dog makes a cameo appearance and although it’s only in a couple of shots, he’s obviously a very good boy.

The Zilzies crafted their laid back tone throughout last year as they drove up and down the coast of NSW in a van playing gigs for local crowds. They’ve shared the stage with acts like Jebediah, Lime Cordiale and The Kava Kings and sold out Wollongong’s Rad Bar when they premiered Honey (It’s Alright) to a live audience.

Catch them this week as they perform at The Observer Hotel in Sydney on Friday night. Details here.
