PREMIERE: Brother Colluder are part of a new generation of electro heroes and prove it in Take Me Home

As advancements in technology both improve and hinder our world, we grow more and more aware of its vast potential. In music, the potential is the same; with new instruments, programs and ways of creating flying towards creatives like sparkling diamond petals to grab and cherish, many use them to great effect. Thanks to technological advances, we’re able to enjoy not only new songs but new genres and new scenes. Namely, bands such as The xx, Radiohead and Massive Attack have used advancing technology to inspire a new generation of synth wizards and DAW wranglers.

BrotherColluder

Sydney three-piece Brother Colluder weave their sound into the ever extending fabric of Australian alternative electro in eerie, dark single Take Me Home.

Brother Colluder are one of a new generation of musicians utilizing technological movement to enhance and build on their musical creations, joining a certifiable legion of creative warriors bringing music into the 21st century. With their new release, Take Me Home the Sydney three-piece give us every reason to believe they are well and truly solidified as a cog in the colossal machine that is modern alternative music. A dark and eerie offering, Take Me Home builds on the foundation that is the band’s 2015 self-titled debut EP.

Drawing influence from said originators of modern electronic music as well as current artists successfully amalgamating electronica with the humanity of alternative music, Brother Colluder also manage to carve out a unique groove in the ever-rotating musical sphere. The track is introduced in puddles of solitary piano, free for the time being of the rigid constraints of groove, the opening verses sway and flow like a dark forest in the breezy afterglow of a thunder storm. With the introduction of sombre, breathy vocals, the song begins to take form and meander into a rhythmic crescendo.

The vocal sentiment is one heard in many of today’s breathy chanteuses and bears the familiar tenderness of Cat Power, JOYand many others in the same soft vein. Familiarity aside, Brother Colluder manage to melt their message into your mind with a pulsating drop; unforgettable and intense in its delayed arrival, it is a hallmark of clever songwriting and masterful dynamic control. The track will no doubt rest comfortably between its distant relatives that shed their similar musical makeup on a triple J playlist.

In the trance-like climax that dances ecstatically through the golden corridors of the latter end of Take Me Home, the listener may find themselves in a moment of misplacement, losing oneself in between each throb in the electric peaks and valleys of the production. It is a track for Brother Colluder to be proud of and for their listeners to cuddle like a warm blanket in the height of winter. Take Me Home is but a taste of upcoming releases from the three-piece and sparks anticipation for what’s next.

Take Me Home will be available through iTunes on March 7th
