Oh MUM. What would all us kids who still rock the skinny jeans and chucks combo do without you? Despite being at the World Bar in the unlustrious (that’s the opposite of illustrious) Kings Cross, it’s still one of the raddest nights out in Sydney – just so long as you don’t hang outside for too long and when it’s time to leave, make a swift, swift exit from Sydney’s least desirable area at 3am on a Saturday morning.
Tonight (14 March), catch an acoustic set from Huckleberry Hastings, a solo artist who takes considerable influence from the nineties. No, not the Nirvana/Flannel/Daria nineties, we’re talking the mutton chops, home brew and anti-colonial revolutions nineties. That’s the 1890’s for you non-history majors. Here’s the lowdown on what happened and why it’s cool. Acoustic guitars, blue-eyed blues and Mumford & Sonsy vibes abound in Hastings’ tunes, which you’ll be able to catch from 8:30 pm in the parlour.

Downstairs, catch producer/band/bloody rippers ISLND return to the disco den – a venue they’re accustomed to rocking the shit out of. Hot off the heels of some radio love over in the British Isles on Diplo’s BBC show and touring with The Aston Shuffle, catch their unique take on the definition of a live electronic set.
Also on the bill are Pretty City – a rock band up from Melbskis, some intergalactic bass from Bambii, the garagey pop stylings of Wolf Cola and more acts than you could possibly see in one night. Entry is free before 10pm, $15 after. Five dollar beers for members and free popcorn for all.
