Naturally music is a big part of that, people taking their love for Wookies and Ewoks and putting them to song. Darth Punk – The Funk Awakens
Daft Punk meets Darth Vader? Hell fuck to the yes! Featuring the music of DJ Gonk, this is a funk noir masterpiece that has already started to achieve cult status, much like the original films. We follow some intrepid youngsters as they face off against a funky Darth Vader and Bobba Fett, decked out in luminous Daft Punk duds. The guys at Infectious Designer really deserve a pat on the back for this one, the choreography, lighting effects and costuming are incredible.
Blink-182 – Princess Leia
Alas, everybody’s favourite toilet humour pop-punks Blink-182 (one-eighty-two for the purists) are no more… again. Regardless of their rather embarrassing public falling out, the band have a vibrant back catalogue of nudity, girl troubles, depression and of course, Star Wars. Taken from their seminal Dude Ranch album Princess Leia is the anthem for every lonely dude too pathetic to talk to a real girl and instead fantasise about a ball-busting, funky hair bun royal.
Weird Al Yankovic – The Saga Begins
Most likely the most positive light young Anakin Skywalker has ever been placed in, the king of the parody song immortalised the (40 YEAR SPOILER) future Darth Vader in this brilliant ode in the vein of Don McLean’s American Pie. Sure it’s goofy, but considering the character’s tragic story it’s shockingly poignant.
Supernova – Chewbacca
The best wing man you’ll ever need, he doesn’t even need pants to fly a ship. Punk rock trio Supernova’s tribute to everyone’s favourite may be a little stark when it comes to lyrics, but it gets the vibe right; big, intimidating riffs coupled with a simple, playful nature.
Luke be a Jedi
In pure Simpsons genius, Mark Hamill is unwittingly reduced to performing as his one note hero Luke Skywalker in a very skewed production of Guys and Dolls. Behold.
