Jack White’s Third Man Records are set to open their very own vinyl pressing plant

On February 27th Third Man Pressing will open up in Detroit. A state-of-the-art vinyl pressing plant owned, built and run by Jack White’s own label Third Man Records, the new factory will be able to print 5,000 records per eight hour shift.

While the factory will obviously be used to press Third Man releases, another aim of the plant is to alleviate the strain which major production labels have had on the industry since the vinyl boom. Every time The Beatles have a record repressed, it halts up the printing schedules of factories, often at the expense of smaller artists and limited runs. Third Man Pressing intends to “dedicate a percentage of its capacity each month to pressing records for clients of this ilk.”

Third Man Pressing is set to open next month, a brand new vinyl pressing factory with a dedication to smaller artists, limited runs and speedy printing.

The factory features eight new presses, which is a pretty huge deal considering these never get made anymore. Eight all at once is heaven.

Third Man Pressing will hold it’s grand opening on February 25th. The first record pressed will be The White Stripes’ self-titled debut. Choice.

Check out a few more photos of the plant below, including a mural by local artist Robert Sestok.
