Hear a preview of Roger Water’s first album in 25 years with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich

Back in October 2016 Pink Floyd bassist, lyricist and co-lead vocalist Roger Waters announced he was working on a 2017 album, bringing in Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich as a collaborator.

Obviously that’s a disgusting amount of musical potential energy, seeing the driving forces of two of music’s most successful acts joining hands on a project. Aside from the announcement there’s been little news on the album, but today Waters shared a short preview of what’s to come.

Pink Floyd’s conceptual leader Roger Waters is bringing out an album in 2017 joined by formidable Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich.

Waters shared a photo of himself and Godrich in the studio yesterday, and shortly thereafter posted a video of their progress. See both below.

If that’s not a boss Pink Floyd bass line, then nothing is. It’s pretty unreal how such a short snippet can evoke so much of Rogers’ previous work.

Goldrich came into Rogers’ radar after he produced the three disc live album of his The Wall tour in 2015. Hear what he said about Godrich, the industry and the upcoming record below:

“Nigel’s really good. He said to me, ‘People always want to do these long records. How long was The Dark Side of the Moon?’ I said 38 minutes. But there are no constraints on records now because nobody pays you anything for them. So everything’s off the table. I so feel for young musicians, knowing that all of your work will be stolen, and nobody wants to pay you.”
