Forget all about the ARIAs at these 5 gigs this weekend

Hey guys, guess what? It’s ARIA week! I know the excitement can be a little too much, what with the ARIAs stretching over an entire week these days, but let’s not allow that to distract us from getting off our sticky leather couches, donning our favourite band shirts and getting out to see some shows. There are some blinders this week, so if you can brave the heat (the worst is yet to come) get down to these 5 gigs as we all celebrate a massive week in Australian music history.

PLTS gig guide

Gigs are fun, we like gigs, so get out of your stuffy sharehouses and share a dance floor with some strangers at one of these 5 gigs this weekend.

The Bennies – The Factory Floor, Sydney, Friday 27th September

The Bennies are one of the most raucous live bands around right now, all about the riffs, big choruses and loose times. They are in the midst of a massive tour all around Australia right now – catch them in all their weed-addled glory this week in Sydney alongside the The Hard Aches and Wet Pensioner.

ADKOB – The Milk Factory, Brisbane, Friday 27th November

ADKOB have had a flying start to their career with a very tasty EP under the belt that has been turning a fair few heads. A Different Kind of Busy is a brilliant debut from the band and this is the first time they’ve taken it on the road. Things kick off in Brisbane this Friday!

PLTS – Elsewhere Bar, Surfers Paradise, Friday 27th November

We are so stoked to be presenting this tasty little tour from Byron Bay scallywags Pilots (aka PLTS). They are bringing their latest single On and On – a nostalgic trip bridled with gobs of distortion and indie rock charm – to the people, making seven stopovers up and down the East Coast. This weekend Elsewhere Bar in the Goldy gets the treatment before they head to their hometown for a secret warehouse gig. Check their Facebook for more details.

Richard In Your Mind – The Grace Darling, Melbourne, Saturday 28th November

One of the best things about seeing Richard In Your Mind live is that they’re so committed to their cause they literally bring a sitar with them on tour. They are kicking off their Ecstatic Electricity single tour this weekend in Melbourne and we can only hope their new set list doesn’t neglect those sympathetic Indian drones.*

Bad Pony – The Roxbury, Glebe, Saturday 28th November

Another band we are so very proud to be presenting. Bad Pony embarked on a mammoth tour back in October, one that is just about to wrap up. Not before they hit Sydney one more time though, taking the stage at The Roxbury in Glebe. These guys put on a killer show every time. Don’t miss out.
