Sometimes I get weirdly obsessed with bands. This happened to me with Palms, so when I saw them at Secret Garden not too long ago, I died inside. Then I watched DZ Deathrays later in the night, when the general vibe and spirits were even higher. I was essentially in heaven. So naturally when DZ announced a show at Oxford Arts Factory with Palms, I lost my mind and bought tickets immediately. This is where Foam comes in.

foam band

Yes, you guessed it, Foam are the other support act for this sure to be wicked show, (can you all just buy tickets already?) and I felt compelled to check out what made these WA garage rockers worthy of playing alongside my favourite acts. It took less than twenty seconds for me to dig the blatantly Nirvana infused grunge sound of this band. Foam is three guys who have been making some serious noise since their debut EP Sarpa Salpa was released in 2012. Since then, they won the Triple J Unearthed Big Day Out competition, played gigs with a multitude of sweet ‘Strayan bands and now have a split with fellow Perth band Puck, from which the immensely raw track All My Friends was born.

I feel bad… Foam deserve more than me just stumbling across them because of this gig. They’ve revitalized the 90’s grunge vibe in a really exciting and addictive way – I listened to All My Friends non-stop as I wrote this article. Foam are a band that deserve to be aligned with DZ and Palms – they’re making incredible tracks that clearly yearn to be played in a live setting. So give Foam a spin, I’m sure you’ll dig their deliciously charged tunes. Then get yourself down to the DZ show in your city of choice in May and watch three kickass bands do their thing.
