The Chain by Fleetwood Mac causes cosmic commotion, featuring on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack

Fleetwood Mac have made a sonic comeback, and this time it’s not from your Mum’s record collection.

Travelling through the space-time continuum, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has featured the 1977 popular hit The Chain in not only in the movie trailer, but multiple times throughout the film.

Whilst personal connections in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are somewhat similar to that of the relationships in Fleetwood Mac, the movie falls short in regards to the drama amongst the band.

American director, screenwriter, novelist, musician and actor James Gunn wrote the film produced by Marvel, with the featured track being a personal favourite of Gunn’s.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is about a bunch of superhero misfits who embark on all sorts of galactic craziness to protect their precious batteries, all whilst the curious relationship between main character Peter Quill (or Star-Lord) and his long lost father unfolds.

The Chain was inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie (singer/keyboardist), being one of the few songs that gives writing credit to every band member. The track, surfacing from the 1977 Rumours album, was created amongst complete and utter drama according to McVie.

Amongst a cloud of cocaine inspired confusion which the band were infamous for at the time, was Mick Fleetwood’s failing marriage, the McVies splitting up and Nick’s breaking it off with Buckingham, followed by Fleetwood and Nick’s hooking up.

This naturally caused chaos in the studio, an amount that would sadly never live up to the cosmic commotion in Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also features classic 70s hits such as Cat Stevens Father and Son, ELO’s Mr. Blue Sky, Cheap Trick’s Surrender and even vocals from German pop-sensation David Hasselhoff, on Guardians Inferno.

Strangely enough, the tracks go hand in hand with each scene, syncing perfectly with each shot and the hair-raising events that unfold.
