Sydney producer wonder twins (not really twins), Fishing, are back and are ACTIVATING some killer tunes in the FORM OF their new debut album Shy Glow plus an Australian Tour.

For those who don’t know, I just made a Wonder Twins reference. More to the point, I’m absolutely frothing over this album. And it’s not just me – the likes of FBi, The Brag, Channel [V] and so many others are raving on about it. These boys have been busy, coming off a successful sold out show at The Basement for Vivid Festival, and touring with big shots Yeasayer and Hermitude.
The proof is in the pudding here. You’ve got some fresh tracks with the Fishing sound you’ve come to know, love and slow-bop to, but there are some really cool collaborations going on with some cool new sounds. Alister Wright (lead man from Cloud Control and has also had the pleasure of being hugged by me at one of his gigs) has worked on a couple tracks on the album.
One track includes the electro bubblegum pop single Nineteen / Boy Wunder – you can hear Alister’s vocal hooks near the end. This tune is undeniably infectious, more upbeat than what you’ve come to expect and all round such a fun tune. You’ve also got some cool tracks resembling afro – tropicana pop such as Voss or Choy Glow as well as some straight up R&B hip hop vibes on the track Choy Lin. So so good.
You’d be cracked not to catch these guys in their eastern seaboard tour with shows in QLD, NSW, VIC and SA. I’ll definitely be catching these boys who are kicking off their tour at Splendour, where I will be showing off some creepy slow dance moves that I’ve been working on. Fishing are just another reason why July 24th If you know anyone with a time machine, hit a brother up.
