Deep Sea Arcade weigh in on the best of Australian music ahead of the Rare Finds 1st birthday

Deep Sea Arcade are veterans of the Sydney live music scene. They have consistently been referred to as one of Australia’s best live bands, having toured with fervour since forming as the bedroom project of Nick Weaver and Nic McKenzie many years ago. Aside from this, McKenzie is the man behind Visions – one of the staple party nights of the Sydney live music scene.

Another staple of the Sydney live music circuit is Rare Finds, a night that has built up a reputation over the past 12 months as a ballistic party night, and a purveyor of Sydney’s best emerging talent. In many ways it makes sense then that Deep Sea Arcade would headline the Rare Finds’ 1st birthday. Everything comes full circle – somehow.

Rare Finds

When it comes to Australian live music, Rare Finds know their shit. So do Deep Sea Arcade. In light of this we asked Deep Sea Arcade to weigh in their thoughts on the best of Australian music ahead of the Rare Finds 1st birthday this Saturday. It all comes full circle.

So we can get nice and psyched about the Rare Finds 1st birthday this coming Saturday (at Oxford Art Factory, featuring Deep Sea Arcade, Lime Cordiale, Owen Rabbit, Good Boy, Hedge Fund and heaps more) we thought we’d ask Nic McKenzie to weigh in his thoughts about all things local music. Here’s what he put together for us.

“Here are some of our favourite moments in local Australian musical and celluloid history well over the last year and a half at east. Not only are the songs great but the videos are really well thought out and add another dimension to the story of the artist and the music. All of these artists are hilarious people in themselves and I think that most of all shines through in this selection of videos.”

The man has spoken and we are given are given a beacon, glowing and bright, lit towards the music that will have our ears ringing from the sweet, sweet goodness of it all.
