Deadpan dream team Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett release video for Over Everything

Deadpan guitar minstrels Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile have teamed up to release an album. Titled Lotta Sea Lice, the release has been highly anticipated and showcases the much adored broad poetry of two of the world’s best loved songwriters. It’s is due for release this coming October.

In the meantime, Barnett and Vile have dropped a music video for single Over Everything as a tasty teaser for what is to come. True to the simple and understated musical style of both artists the clip is soaked in that too-cool-for-school charisma.

Deadpan dream team Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett are releasing an album together very soon and they’ve just given us a tasty teaser in the form of a video for Over Everything.

The wry half smile of Barnett and endearing awkwardness of Vile come together in a visual vs. vocal swap. The video bounces between Barnett mouthing Vile’s vocals and then Vile taking on Barnett’s and is set across cityscape and rolling wild countryside.

There is a real emphasis on the comparative, with the track being a happy medium between the two artists distinct musical styles. The nine-track record is set to include Vile’s cover of Barnett’s 2013 release Outta the Woodwork and Barnett’s impression of Vile’s 2011 track Peeping Tomboy.

The video comes after the announcement of the duo’s tour across the US and the reveal of the upcoming album’s impressive list of collaborators including Mick Harvey (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party) and The Dirty Three’s Mick Turner and Jim White.
