Check out these rare pre-goth photos of The Cure when they were teenagers

Once an image of a person (or collective persons) has become solidified in your mind it is often difficult to imagine them as anything else.

Such is the phenomenon of when you see a band when they were teenagers or young adults, pre-fame or pre-tremendous ageing. And this goes tenfold for a band like The Cure, whose image is of such dramatic caricature that to imagine them as scruffy adolescents is practically impossible.

Check out these rare pre-goth photos of The Cure taken in the late 1970s when they were teenagers.

But of course they were, as you can see in these awesome photos of the band, taken in the late 70s when they were in their late teens. The shots were taken between 1976 and 1980, while the band were busy finishing school and writing songs that would go on to feature on their debut  record Three Imaginary Boys (1979).

This was all pre-makeup and electric shock hair and it’s hard to believe its the same band.
