Bob Dylan isn’t just a Nobel Prize winning songwriter, he’s also a painter

While the music of Bob Dylan is truly worldwide, his other artistic pursuits have found a smaller audience. Outside his career as a songwriter, it turns out Dylan is also an accomplished painter and sculptor – former President Bill Clinton owns one of his metalworks.

A new exhibition in London’s Halcyon Gallery is currently showing a series of sketches, paintings in acrylic and watercolour, and iron works that the artist has composed, depicting a range of American landscapes.

Did you know Bob Dylan is also a painter? An exhibition in London is currently showing his art, and it’s exactly the kind you’d expect from the husky songwriter of a generation.

Spread over three floors and hundreds of artworks, the exhibition depicts Americana in a range of locations; major cities, backroads and of course, plenty of diners. I guess we found out what Dylan was doing while he wasn’t returning the calls from the Nobel Prize panel.

There’s something calming and familiar about the artworks, and it’s near impossible to browse them without a Dylan classic popping into your head.

So go ahead, throw on Mr. Tambourine Man and take a look at the paintings:
