Bloc Party drop new video for The Love Within and finalise Aussie tour dates

Indie rock legends Bloc Party are set to hit the country this New Year for the annual Falls and Southbound festivals, plus a run of sideshows, in the lead up to a new release called Hymns – their first record with a new lineup. The band have just released the second single from the new album The Love Within and now they have some visual candy to go with it.

Bloc Party the love within

The Love Within sees the band going down an even more electronic path than they have previously. The video frames the track accordingly, with pulsating dancers making their way through an empty East London mall, choreographed by Holly Blakely (Florence and the Machine, Jungle, Young Fathers).

Hymns is due out on January 29th via Create/Control. The album is set to be a return to a more stripped back Bloc Party, with singer/guitarist Kele Okereke and guitarist Russell Lissack being the the only remaining original members.

“It’s still a very live record,” says Lissack. “Everything has been played, though it doesn’t necessarily sound like that. We take a lot of influence from electronic music, for example, and then try to bring that into a completely different environment.” Okereke is astounded at the results. “What Russell is doing now is completely blowing my mind. He’s using the guitar as an instrument of white noise, as well as a melodic tool. I’m super-excited about getting this music in front of people.”
