BIGSOUND releases first round of speakers for the 2015 music conference

Australia’s annual music conference/massive party week BIGSOUND has just released the first round of names to be appearing at the festival for 2015. While punters are generally more excited about the waves of awesome Aussie and international bands that make their way to Brisbane for the festival each year, it is also an equally important music conference for the industry. This year there are some really special names on the list.

Leading the pack isĀ Peter Garrett who will be delivering a keynote address about public policy, the industry and hopefully some inside stories about his time with Midnight Oil. It will be his first major music industry appearance since leaving politics. Joining him will be local industry legends such as Julia Wilson (Rice Is Nice), Lorrae McKenna (Remote Control Records) and Guy Blackman (Chapter Music).

On the international front BIGSOUND will host the likes of Jacqueline Saturn (Harvest Records), Rachel Cragg (Nettwerk), Tunji Balogan (RCA), and Tayla Elitzer (Capitol Records), who will be making the pilgrimage to Brisbane for first time this year.

Joining Garrett as a keynote speaker will be Brother Ali who recently addressed the Nobel Peace Prize Forum at Princeton University in the States. The rapper/activist has gained world wide attention for his inspired lyricism and recent campaigning against homosexually, privilege and social justice.

BIGSOUND takes place in venues across Brisbane from September 9th-11th. Applications for artists close May 15th, with the first lineup due to drop in June. Keep your eyes peeled for more details, and have a look at the awesome first round of speakers below:
