Australia just got a game changing $100,000 music prize, the biggest in our country’s history

One of our favourite festivals on the calendar has to be BIGSOUND. It’s become the largest celebration of new music and the music industry in the southern hemisphere, and for good reason.

It hits that sweet spot between a fully-fledged festival and a summit for musicians, industry folk, managers and the rest to hang together. It’s just a damn good time for everyone, but this year they’ve taken things to the next level.

BIGSOUND has outdone themselves in 2017, teaming up with Levi’s to pull together the biggest music prize in Australian history.

The prize pool will be used to support emerging artists that get their initial leg up at BIGSOUND but need the financial backing to record the debut EP, take on the next run of dates, or just hit the next big target.

“I am super proud to be launching the Levi’s Music Prize at this year’s BIGSOUND. This project has been a few years in the making and is an initial 3-year commitment that we plan to build out with additional opportunities for artists over the coming years”, said Levi’s AU/NZ Marketing Manager Nicky Rowsell.

“Music has always been a part of the Levi’s brand DNA. It therefore made perfect sense for us to create the Levi’s Music Prize as a platform to export Australian talent to the world and further give back to the local music community and all that it stands for.”

Applications to play at BIGSOUND Festival 2017 are now open. Follow this link to apply.
