Are My Bloody Valentine gearing up to release a new album next year?

My Bloody Valentine are allegedly gearing up to release new material, as well as all-analog pressings of their seminal shoegaze masterpiece Loveless and their debut Isn’t Anything, in 2018.

Earlier today, MBV mastermind Kevin Shields was announced on the bill for Norður og Niður, an upcoming festival in Iceland put on by none other than Sigur Ros. And according to Shields’ bio on the festival website, he is busy working on a new album.

According to a festival bio for Kevin Shields, My Bloody Valentine are gearing up to release new material in 2018.

At the end, the blurb reads, “kevin is currently finishing an all analog vinyl version of loveless and isn’t anything and is also working on material for a new my bloody valentine album to be released in 2018.”

If it comes to fruition, the album would be the follow up to 2013’s m b v, the band’s first release since Loveless in 1991.

As FACT Mag note, a new record has actually been brewing for a while, with Shield’s saying in a 2013 interview that aside from finishing the analog versions of Loveless and Isn’t Anything, “the main plan for next year is to make a new record.”

Stay tuned for more details.
