Andy Warhol to star in upcoming doco shot by himself, directed by Sundance winner Göran Hugo Olsson

No, Göran Hugo Olsson doesn’t have his own time machine. The acclaimed director, known for his Sundance winning documentary Black Power Mixtape, will stitch together a wealth of footage shot by Andy Warhol and his inner circle during the 1970s for a new feature examining the eminent artist.

That Summer will be focused particularly on Warhol’s Montauk estate, where artists, popstars and celebrities regularly gathered for some high-end debauchery behind closed doors.

Assembling lost footage from Andy Warhol’s notorious Long Island estate, That Summer will be a doorway into the artist’s inner circle.

The property in question, a 5.4 acre hamlet 125 miles east of Manhattan, was sold last January for an easy $50 million US. Add The Rolling Stones, Lennon, Jackie Kennedy, and a few others to that mix and you can probably picture the results.

Speaking about the property in July 1977, Warhol said; “The kids called from Montauk, everybody was there. Jan Cushing, Jackie Rogers, François de Menil and Jennifer Jakobson, Barbara Allen. Mick (Jagger) had moved over from Peter Beard’s and spent time in one of the bedrooms with Barbara.”
