Alex Watt announces residency at The Grace Darling, ensuring good tunes in Melbourne for a month straight

Alex Watts is the man (and woman) about town in his new film clip for single Hopeful. A mischievous tribute to West Side Story and all that drama, both the track and visuals play homage to Watts’ keen sense of humour, observation and innovation. The song lightly skips along to rich electric guitars, silky hooks and a peppy drum beat that matches the keenness the young suitor applies to his wooing efforts.

Alex Watts announces residency in Melbourne this May, setting up camp at The Grace Darling for a month of good tunes and good times.

With a forthcoming album crisping nicely in the oven, Watts has amassed some of his favourite local artists for a month long residency at The Grace Darling Hotel on Wednesdays in May.

Bringing their own dishes to the party will be Current Earthly Embodiment of the Protector of The Natural Universe, aka Mandek Penha bringing you his particular brand of praise. The surf-garage instrumental phenomena that is The Bluebottles, Melbourne’s swiftly ascending electronic R&B trio Huntly, and bringing it home for the posse is Wyall Style alumni Frida, a dark indie-pop dream exploration including some of Australia’s freshest soul musicians.

Take up a chair, sway to those undulating tones, head on down to The Grace Darling Hotel for all the possibilities.

Wednesday May 4 w/ Huntly + Seri Vida
Wednesday May 11 w/  The Bluebottles
