A Queen biopic is coming, and Rami Malek has just been cast as Freddie Mercury

Since Mr. Robot debuted, Rami Malek has shot to the forefront of showbiz. In the show he plays Elliot Anderson, a morphine addicted computer hacker that topples a business empire while suffering frequent delusional episodes. The complex role saw him take home a shelf of accolades, include the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Director Bryan Singer (The Usual SuspectsX-Men franchise) recently announced on Instagram that Malek has been chosen to play Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic, which has been stuck in development for years, mainly due to Sacha Baron Cohen’s dropping out from the role.

Mr. Robot star Rami Malek will play Freddie Mercury in an upcoming long-in-the-works Queen biopic directed by  Bryan Singer.

This new announcement re-ignites the project, both for the director and in terms of public hype. Mr. Robot is fresh out of it’s second season, once again meeting enormous success.
