Swedish producer Olsson is breaking in with style. Part of the artist collective INGRID (Miike Snow, Likke Li, and Peter, Bjorn & John), Olsson has spent countless hours sharing space with some huge names in music.
Olsson has ten years of musical experience to his name, and intends to showcase his full capacity for enticing dance production with an upcoming EP.
His single Hold On features Swedish pop star Mapei on vocals, accompanying Olsson’s own stylish, choral lyrics. The musical arrangement is bare bones and effective, showcasing the producer’s maturity. Simple string progressions give way to funky bass lines as the track progresses, always reserving the front of the mix for the catchy vocal duo.
Olsson’s EP, also titled Hold On, is slated for release on August 17. The expansive record will stylistically borrow from rave culture, and as such will be released in the classic 12″ dance format and feature remixes from house producer Isaac Tichauer and drum and bass favourite DJ Marky. Tame Impala
One of my favourite bands around. I mean Kevin Parker…what is he made of? The falsetto, those melodies, the production. That tune New Person, Same Old Mistakes is still on repeat.
Jagwar Ma
Love this band. I feel really connected to these guys musically. I saw them opening for Tame Impala in a show in Stockholm and they were killing it. I’m mad about that Come Save Me record. The beat!
The Avalanches
Im so happy these guys are back! The Since I Left You album has been a soundtrack to an endless amount of pre and after parties. I love the fact that you don’t know where songs start or stop, it’s just a long mixtape of good vibes. Still feels fresh.
Empire of the Sun
Are these guys still around? I damn hope so. I actually got pretty upset when I first heard Walking On A Dream. It was too good. Too easy. It was one of these tracks I wished I’d written myself.
Wolfmother
One of the few new rock acts I like. Discovered them through that song Woman that was played all over the place. I thought it was an old Black Sabbath song at first.
