6 artists to see at Field Day if you’re not too hungover

There’s no better hangover cure than a bitchin’ festival. Field Day 2016 is upon us, and with a staggering lineup of talented musos, here are 6 best to welcome the new year.

Gracing Sydney Siders with the perfect wind down from New Years Eve for the past 14 years, Field Day is one of the most anticipated summer festivals in the state.

Voted the best musical festival in New South Wales two years running, it’s no shock that Field Day is continuing to fill its line up with established home grown names we know and love as well as some new kids on the block, and they’ve got ample share of the spotlight. These are both new and old acts, each one as ~groovy~ as the next.

Filed Day Halsey

Jess Kent

Jess Kent is this year’s triple J Unearthed Winner, and as a result bagged herself a set at Field Day. Thank you, music gods, thank you. Kent will be performing some never before released tracks, as well as her banger Get Down on January 1. Cannot wait, body is not ready.

The Wombats

They’re back in Sydney and everything seems the same, except that The Wombats have a new album, Glitterbug, which peaked at No. 2 in Australia back in April of this year. Proof that if you’re a three-piece all male band from Liverpool in England, things are going to work out for you.

Halsey

Anyone who’s the opening act for The Kooks is going to have only good things waiting for them. After her tour with them in 2014, Halsey released her debut album Badlands in August of this year. The crowds will flock to her set at 5pm to hear her tune Ghost, which wracked up over 1.5 million plays on Soundcloud.

Ngaiire

Being the support act for Alicia Keys and John Legend in one night is a pretty good way to kick start your career, not to mention playing Glastonbury Festival. With critical acclaim everywhere you turn, Ngaiire is someone you need on your Spotify playlist. She’s a wordsmith in the studio and a spectacle on the stage; we can’t wait to see what she’s going to turn out on January 1.

Daniel Avery

The maestro of UK’s tech house scene dropped his debut album Drone Logic in 2012, and we’ve been waiting for him to push his (DJ) buttons ever since. His breakthrough FABRICLIVE 66 has continued to earn him critical acclaim, have a listen below and find out why.

San Cisco

Ever since they dropped Awkward over three years ago, San Cisco have been on an ever upward trajectory. Except for when their bassist shot himself in the foot – literally – but even that didn’t make them stop putting on their shows. Their latest album Gracetown, featuring Too Much Time Together brings us San Cisco’s original vibe, the reason we fell in love with them, but mixing it in with their lyrical evolution.
