Video Premiere: Millions – Always

Life’s a breeze when you’re listening to sunny indie-pop-rock. As you swagger along the sidewalk with your  shades on and Millions in your ears, you will Always feel carefree and mighty fine and dandy. Damn this band’s musically is charmingly trippy, undeniably soothing and retrospectively 60s –  swoon and adore like you’ve never done before.

millions

All class and charm, Brisbane’s Millions’ video for Always is delightfully swooning – the boys haven’t produced anything less than that. More please!

Brisbane boys, Millions, show their true colours in this music video which follows them on their road trips and live performances. Formed in 2011, the band have since supported artists including The Grates, BluejuiceUnknown Mortal Orchestra, San Cisco, Oh Mercy, Last Dinosaurs and Gold Fields. Their most recent release and debut album, following EP releases Cruel and Nine Lives Six Degrees, and the single Clementine which features in this album, Max Relax (check out our album review) is a mature and sensually indie compilation, with tracks you can slow dance to in the dark with beautiful aromatic candles lit all around you.

Ever since triple j’s Dom Alessio described them as: “Millions are the best prom band in Australia,” just from the vocals I can’t help but visualise the lead singer and the equally handsome backup singers singing to me and only me with this fiery passion, as they clutch onto their vintage microphones and rock back and forth so as to tease*. In the league of artists like Rolls Bayce, San Cisco, Ball Park Music, The Creases, Sticky Fingers and Gypsy & The Cat, the four-piece have come far since their initial release, which is saying something since they already set the bar pretty high.

With a splash of colour on your screens in this video, you can tell the boys leave their mark wherever they go with their rock tenderness and refreshingness. Just like the raindrops that fall onto my glasses, clouding my vision, textured paint briefly covers sections of the screen, teaching you to appreciate when everything is clear again – a lesson disguised as a nuisance, which is pretty much what life is all about! Always‘ accented guitar lines met with metallic and percussive piano rhythms, which hide away but remain energised in the background, plus the hush of sweet male harmonies allows you to be absorbed but ever alert in this track.
