Slow Magic- How To Run Away

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, this week I have the pleasure of presenting you with Slow Magic’s highly anticipated album How To Run Away. Freshly released on September 9th, things are certainly heating up for this one-man-show with an elaborate tour of the States and Canada under way to celebrate the long awaited release.

Described by SPIN as “beach House-d organ blends with bold synths and crisp handclaps, and, eventually, minimalist jazz-infused piano meets heavily pitch-altered vocals” – a pretty damn accurate picture has been painted of what Slow Magic’s sound is all about.

Sink into this slow release of pleasure with Slow Magic. The dreamy mesh of piano lines, beats, synths and atmospherics is worth a listen.

How To Run Away is a record crafted to perfection and in possession of a rare quality that will certainly keep old fans happy, while attracting a whole legion of new fans. With influences ranging from the Beach Boys to Sigur Ros and Kings of Convenience, Slow Magic’s style is both eclectic and evolving – having undergone a significant transformation since Triangle from 2012.  Layer upon layer of electronic magnificence and chiller beats a plenty, Slow Magic is leading a tribe of his very own. Much like Daft Punk and SBTRKT, Slow Magic relishes his artistic anonymity by donning a pretty spectacular cardboard mask undoubtedly adds to his element of ‘cool’.

Whether you prefer your electronic music as is or with a side of vocals, How To Run Away has got something that caters for just about anybody. Still Life is a track with a heavy jazz influence in the piano section, and that gradually progresses into a seriously gutsy chorus with synthelicious melodies that tell a story of their own.

Girls and Hold Still have already received some big love, while my favourite track from the record Waited 4 U really showcases Slow Magic’s infectious voice. Without revealing too much, an additional 6 tracks means that there are a total of 10 waiting to enter your pretty little ears. Get ready to fall in love with Slow Magic.

Happy listening!
