Lolo BX – Too Curious

I’m getting really sick of all these super talented electronic Aussie producers that keep popping up everywhere. Said no one ever. Another electronic production gem has piqued our interest and to keep something as good as this to ourselves would be a crime.

Lovin’ Bathurst duo Lolo BX and their delectable chill beats. It must be the mountains of their hometown… Mt Panorama… high standards… get it?

Brett Foran and Corey Penrith-Smith are LOLO BX. They eat devon sangas, drink VB and make music fresh outta the rural town of Bathurst, NSW. It was when the trap scene began to blow up that the Central West boys realised “hey, that’s the shit we make!” and boom, LOLO BX was born. Part Dr. Dre (Lolo) and part Bathurst (BX), the electro duo evoke the trappy, future bass vibes of HudMo, Rustie and Cashmere Cat, an addictive sound that’s taking off like wildfire. Despite their mere one and a half years of existence, LOLO BX mash together elements of trap, electronica, dance, hip hop with a dexterity that rivals that of our favourite electronic heavyweights.

Their Spring EP (download it for free here!) is a glorious ADM concoction of melodic bass blended with underground hip-hop beats. Lead single Alpha was a triple j fav, hitting number one on the Triple J Unearthed Electronic Chart and earning the duo an ‘Unearthed Spotlight’ slot, and it’s no wonder why. When you hear the epic vocal choirs, thundering Flume-like basslines and a masterfully crafted build up, you’ll get it. Let It Go is a house-influenced track with hip-hop-influenced sampling and pitched-up vocal edits that build to a groundbreaking, thrill ride of a drop.

LOLO BX have just dropped their first official, two-track EP Too Curious and we’re lovin’ it. Featuring the versatile flow of Chicago-based rapper Mayo, titular track Too Curious litters a double-time drum beat with melodic synths, creating a yummy hybrid-electro cocktail which incorporates the twosome’s signature R&B and hip-hop influences. Earlier release Airworks also features on the EP, described by the pair as “RnB meets disco-bounce-happy times.” Infer from that what you will, but trust me when you listen to it, happy times will be had. LOLO BX’s Too Curious EP is out now through Die High Records.
