L-Vis 1990 + DJ Bok Bok

Night Slugs. No, it’s not the mysterious after dark game that Charlie and Frank play in their apartment in Always Sunny, that’s Night Crawlers. We’re talking the ineffably influential record label/club night Night Slugs, operated by tech/funk/house/grime/pretty much everything tastemakers L-Vis 1990 and DJ Bok Bok. The two artists have been responsible for much of what the electronic world now considers the ‘sound’ of London clubs with their futuristic beats and the ineffably cool production never falling far from the current vogue.

Night Slugs commanders-in-chief L-Vis 1990 and DJ Bok Bok are headed to Brisbane for a one night stop of futuristic London dance music.

The two DJ’s are just about to finish up their national tour, but if you’re in Brisbane this long weekend, you’ll be able to catch their final show together in Australia. Taking place at Consiston Lane’s Bowler Bar, this is a chance for both clubbers and electronic music nerds to come together for a night of awesome underground sounds.

Bok Bok’s latest foray is a little more commercial than the usual Night Slug fare, embracing an RnB vibe and skitzed out electronic beats, but is executed with a grace and subtlety that many producers trying to achieve the same sound lack.

We’re not sure what time the Night Slugging duo will be on, nor do we have any clue as to how much tickets cost. We’ve checked the Bowler Bar page, we’ve checked Resident Advisor and we’ve checked Moshtix, who provided ticketing to the last few L-Vis 1990 + DJ Bok Bok shows. What we do know however, is that this is gonna be awesome, if their recent shows with Chicago’s acid tech pioneer Phuture down here in Sydney are anything to go by. Check out their boiler room set below for a taste.
