YesYou

It was a track that had been hooking me in and taunting me with it’s mystery on Triple J. Forever only getting the last few seconds, and always missing the title call out. But finally one day with some swift finger tipped, action packed Shazaming, I discovered it was YesYou that was wooing me. The Brisbane production duo Jono Kirkham and Gav Parr had me hook, line and sinker with their super up-lifting dance/pop hybrid – great for waiving your hands in the air.

From what I gather, these guys have been on the up-rise in the last year or two with their first track Half Of It getting the red drum of approval in 2011. The duo throws a bit of drum and synth work your way with awesome vocal collabs and performs live with a full band. Frivolous Life featuring Marcus Azon (Jinga Safari) from their 2012 self-titled EP has been my ‘shamelessly-sing-at-the-top-of-my-lungs-in-the-car-on-the-trip-to-everywhere’ track, but I feel as though I’m not alone on this one, right? The rest of the EP is equally as full of warm fuzzies with a great beat and sing along lyrics that make it feel like summer all year round. Their latest release So Much To Give featuring Jordan Rakei (which is not-so-scientifically proven to increase the amount of love in the room/dance floor) and has the stench of Hottest 100 action all over it.

Keep an eye out for these guys at your local party centers and festivals in 2014.
