Introducing Phebe Starr

phebe starr - zero

Keep an eye and an ear out for Phebe Starr! Coming to our attention after being unearthed by Triple J in 2012, she’s since toured around the US and UK, supporting a bunch of acts including Of Monsters and Men, Strange Talk, and The Rubens. With airy vocals and a synth-pop sound, this Sydney based singer explodes with beautifully raw emotion through the recent release of her EP Zero. Kicking it all off with her first single Jurassica, her hypnotic sound is memorable, and, well, addictive.

Not only can this girl sing, but she’s mastered the art of film clip-ery. Collaborating with designer Emma Mullholland and Swedish artist Anna Moberg, Phebe takes you on a journey through space to her own little starry wonderland. Influenced by legends including Joni Mitchell, Bjork and The Cure, Phebe has put her own stamp on electronic sound. She’s obsessed with the wider galaxy and she describes her sound as “Alien Pop”. After releasing her debut EP inside the beautiful Paddington Uniting Church, Phebe kicked off her headlining Australian tour. Currently, no new tour dates have been set, but you can still dissolve yourself in some alien pop through Zero, which is available for streaming below.
