Sydney scallywags Sticky Fingers are fresh off the plane, back in town after touring Europe on their debut album release Caress Your Soul (check our their travel diaries here). The boys made a name for themselves at Newtown Festival a few years ago, setting up a makeshift stage and playing a crazy ass show to a confused but elated crowd, after they’d been officially rejected by the festival’s booking agent.
From there, the band has jumped from success to success, playing a string of sold-out shows both on and offshore. Following the release of their debut album Caress Your Soul earlier this year, the title track made it to number 61 on triple j’s Hottest 100, and reviews were generally glowing.
The appeal of their live show is evident in the danceable nature of a lot of their songs, rooted in reggae rhythms with plenty of rock and psych influences peppered throughout, and in the ‘gang’ mentality the band seem to possess – a powerful force for a “work hard, play hard” band like Sticky Fingers – The Au Review
The good news for us is that the Stickies boys have just announced their Sun Shine Down On Us All Tour, which will take them Australia wide. Be sure to buy a ticket and roll on down to see ‘em in the flesh. Their booze-fueled passion on stage, as well as their obvious talent, make them one of Sydney’s most exciting exports.
As long as they don’t implode, Sticky Fingers could well become the best up and coming local band on the scene – The Music
