Violent Soho – In The Aisle

Anyone who calls themselves a fan of Violent Soho will be stoked about this one- they’ve just released the video to their first single from their upcoming album Hungry Ghost (and it follows a day in the life of a Brisbane nudist).

Sonically, In The Aisle is a belter, and a nice return to form for the boys who were served a mixed bag of reviews following their last release.

The track was inspired by escaping normality, interesting people like old dudes who drag kanga plastic cricket bats in the ground and order black and gold tea from cafes, Australia post-war 60’s dream state suburbia, distraction from things that matter because they are replaced with things that don’t – FasterLouder

Hungry Ghost was recorded in Brisbane and mixed in New York by John Agnello, who has previously worked with Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, and The Hold Steady. From that, there is an element of authenticity to the soundscape of this track, highlighting the fact that grunge is still very much alive and kicking. As comforting as that revival is, all artists want to grow and change musically, and it seems Violent Soho are no exception.

In The Aisle marks a welcome return from Queensland’s finest hard-rock proponents. Reaching for the emotive as well as the mosh-frenzied, the track charts a considerable maturation from the Mansfield lads – Beat

Hungry Ghost is out September 6, but you can catch the boys previewing it live throughout August in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
